What is exercise physiology?
Exercise physiology (EP) uses structured, guided exercise to improve your health through movement. At VITA PHYSIO, our exercise physiology and fitness training service delivers evidence-based, personalised exercise programs that support injury recovery, help manage chronic conditions, and build long-term strength and wellbeing.
It is ideal for anyone wanting safe, structured support rather than working out alone, and it gives you a clear, guided pathway towards moving better and feeling stronger.
Who is exercise physiology for?
Exercise physiology suits people of all backgrounds who have mobility problems or injuries and need to rehabilitate, improve how their body moves and manage pain. It can benefit people with:
- chronic conditions
- persistent pain, including neck and lower back pain
- recent injuries, including sporting injuries
- balance or mobility concerns
- neurological conditions
- recovery after surgery (post-operative rehabilitation)
- older age, when the goal is to stay strong and independent
How does exercise physiology at VITA PHYSIO work?
The steps are:
- Book: call (02) 9718 9580, email admin@vitaphysio.com.au or send a message through our contact page. Tell us if you are using private health insurance, Medicare, NDIS, Aged Care, WorkCover or CTP.
- Assessment: we review your history, your current difficulties and what you want to be able to do. Bring any scans, reports or insurance details, and wear comfortable clothing.
- Personalised program: we design an evidence-based exercise program for your condition and goals.
- Guided sessions: you work through the program with structured support, and it progresses as you get stronger.
- Ongoing plan: where it helps, exercise physiology can be combined with physiotherapy, remedial massage or orthotic therapy at the same clinic.
What is included in an exercise physiology program?
Every program is tailored, so what is included depends on your needs. It typically covers:
- an assessment of your movement, strength and goals
- a personalised, evidence-based exercise program
- guided, structured sessions in the clinic
- progression of the program as you improve
- advice on exercises you can continue between sessions
